Hello and welcome to season 11 of I'm Your Buddy with Nick and William, a podcast where two best friends are watching and discussing the anime series Attack on Titan. I'm Nick, who has never seen Attack on Titan.
SPEAKER_00And I'm William, who's also never seen the show. And today we're finishing up season one with episode 23, Smile slash Stoic District Raid Part One. Episode 24, Compassion Slash Stoic District Raid Part Two. And Episode 25, The Wall Slash Stoic District Raid Part Three. District Raid is giving me trouble.
SPEAKER_01But that's just the way you like it. I don't know. Right off the bat, going for it. Gotcha. Damn it. I won the podcast already.
SPEAKER_00No, wait, but you actually you are whatever you say you I know you are, but what am I? Like the on rubber, like the the dildo in your ass. Yeah, I went too far. Yeah. I got cut out for the beginning.
SPEAKER_01I was trying to think of glue. No. Ew. How's it going, William? Glue your glue your mouth shut. Young man.
SPEAKER_00I don't know, man. How are you? Is that bad? No, I'm just kidding. No, I'm okay. Uh it's Sunday. We uh quick turnaround on recording this episode, watched the episodes this morning.
SPEAKER_01Yes. Uh yeah, thank you for that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, we're Kara's got a busy dance schedule this upcoming week. Yeah, me and Kara are busy next week, so yeah. I wouldn't be able to do it any other week either. Any other day next week either. Cool, okay, good. Which I didn't even think about until until you said, and I was like, oh yeah, I'm busy too. I'm not even in town half the week. So but yeah, no, I'm okay. Weekend was pretty good. I got a thing to talk about here in a second.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And today, shout out, Jonathan's birthday. Love my cousin Jonathan.
SPEAKER_01Yes, happy birthday, Jan. I saw on Instagram. Yeah. He's a handsome man.
SPEAKER_00He is. Grew his hair out a little longer. Looks good. He looks very good.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. How old is he now? He's younger than Sean?
SPEAKER_00No, they're the same age by a couple months. Okay. So five years younger than you. I have a thing that I feel weird about, and it makes me kind of sad. And it's the most your sexuality thing.
SPEAKER_01I am going whole hog, maybe sound. Well, that fits with the theme of everything else we're talking about.
SPEAKER_00It's very uh middle school so far. You can't win them all, you know. So it's been known. I'm a huge Outcast fan. Rap group, big boy, Andre 3000, yes, Andre Benjamin. They're suing another artist, producer, rapper named Overcast. Okay. Because of their copyright. They have the copyright on the name Outcast. O-U-T K-A-S-T. Yeah. His name's Overcast. A-V-R-K-A-S-T. So it's the K-A-S-T that they don't like. I think it's the O, the the V looks like a U. The K is too similar. Okay. It sucks because I really like Overcast. He's an up-and-coming guy. He's done some production with uh Earl Sweatshirt. He got very uh I think he got on people's radar. He did one of the new uh Drake songs. He's done a few Drake songs, and then he did one of the big ones for the new album. Okay. One of the ones people love the most. One of his big ones, I think Make Them Cry, maybe. Okay. And he's also a rapper. He has his own stuff. He's worked with Vince. He's very big with Samara Sin, who I love. And it's it's kind of a bummer because I like both sides, and I get both sides.
SPEAKER_01Is it the actual members of Outcast who don't like him, or is it, you know, like their fucking publishing group, their record company, there's something like that, you know what I mean? Like whoever holds the copy, right? Like I don't see Andre 3000 giving a shit about that.
SPEAKER_00That's the problem, is I think because their small label indie kind of outcast was when they started, I think it's a lot of them. But the the disagreement comes from, I guess they talked to him a while ago and was like, hey man, it's a little close. Yeah. Can you change it? And if not, we'll have to sue. He didn't change it. And so now they're suing, and he's like, Come on, man. But he has in interviews admitted people do mistake his name for Outcast. Yeah. It's like, okay, well then it's real. Yeah. You admitted it, we're here. It is a real thing. I get it. Legally, yeah. You can't do that. I get it. I do. Yeah. But it's also just kind of a bummer where it's like, damn. I couldn't imagine being like uh an up-and-coming artist, yeah. Finally making a break. My name, my brand, I'm getting that. And then legally I have to change it. Like just the str could you imagine, like today, you can't name your thing Redeemer. I know. Could you imagine? That's insane.
SPEAKER_01Well, and I do when I come up with comic book titles, I search Google search and uh look for similar titles. Uh I try to go out of my way for that. But yeah, he should just go with over or something like that. You know what I mean? Like or just uh K to a C.
SPEAKER_00That's it. Yeah, just switch the K to a C. Yeah, overcast.
SPEAKER_01Exactly. But that's also different, you know. I'm sure there's other names and shit and other people, but yeah, I know it's it's it's difficult because you don't know who's named what and filed what trademarks and blah blah blah blah blah. Yeah, it's a it's it's a bummer. Yeah, but I get yeah, if he says they they get he gets mixed up with them, it's just like yeah, that's kind of their point, I guess. So yeah, that sucks.
SPEAKER_00It's real, but it does bump me out because I like both sides, and I'm just like, damn it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, they'll figure it out. He'll be alright. I mean then hope hopefully they're just they'll settle or something like that and he'll change it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he's not gonna let them fucking obliterate him, you know. But they are like, come on, man, you gotta you know what it is.
SPEAKER_01And if you said that if you confirmed it, then yeah, just change it. Definitely you'll be good. Put out some good shit, and then you'll be fine.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he's good. I like him. I'm excited to see him keep growing with apparently a new name. We'll see what happens.
SPEAKER_01I heard when you came in that you went and saw a movie yesterday.
SPEAKER_00Yesterday, I went and saw Resident Evil in the theater. Yes. I don't know how I feel about it. Oh, wow, okay. I'm conflicted, as Kendrick Lamar would say. Okay. I think it's lean, like you said. You said it's lean. Yep. It might be too lean. Hmm. Okay. It might be just too lean, where I'll never think about it again, I'll never want to watch it again.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00It kind of meant nothing. And I think the big thing I'm struggling with is I don't know if I want a silly Resident Evil movie.
SPEAKER_04Mmm.
SPEAKER_00It's way too silly, I think. Like I get silly, I get humor, I get cut, the tension, but I don't want to be that guy. I do think some of the fans have a gripe that's justifiable, much like Outcast is like, this doesn't feel all the way like a Resident Evil movie. And there's a way to kind of get closer and not just make a fan film where the world around your dumb protagonist could have been closer to the game. And he's just this is him in this world. Yeah. And I for a second thought that's what they were doing when he got picked up in the car with the other cast of characters. I was like, okay, so now these are Resident Evil characters.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And it's not that. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And then you get to scientists, and I was like, okay, it's also not there either. So I was like, okay, it's just this is the thing of I have to think about it more in reconcile. It's not what I thought it was gonna be, or it's not what I think it could have been. So taking it at face value, did I enjoy? I had a great time watching it. I laughed a good amount. I think the creature design was awesome, really cool. I like it's not zombie. I like that it's Cronenberg and body horror mushy things growing together. I think that's more interesting than the zombie thing. But I don't, yeah, I don't know if I loved it. Yeah. I feel let down a little.
SPEAKER_01Interesting.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Wow. Yeah, that's kind of surprising, actually, considering how much you do not like Resonable.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And so I was like, okay, so what I want out of this. And that's where I don't know. I'm not a fan, so I can't be like, oh, the soul of the game, because the games are corny B movies.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Well, at least the modern ones are, yeah.
SPEAKER_00It feels like they all are. I still stand by, like, out of nowhere, you're in a mansion, and then there's like a a huge snake roaming around for no reason. I mean, that just feels very 90s to me. Um, but 90s B movie or 90s prestige movie? When you say B movie, like corny Anaconda.
SPEAKER_01Uh B movie and corny are two different things. I think. They're close though, right? Yeah, I mean, that's the the Venn diagram definitely overlaps for sure. Yeah. Um, but I think they're just they're different in tone, I think.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. I get that. But yeah, I I don't know. I gotta think about it a lot more because like I did legitimately have a good time. Yeah, and then the minute the movie was over, I was like, that's a weird Resident Evil movie. I don't know. Yeah, it does. I do feel away in calling this a Resident Evil movie. I do feel a way.
SPEAKER_01Interesting, yeah. I I don't agree. I think it's very Resident Evil to me. In what ways? It feels like it matches the tone of the new ones, at least in the meta. So the difference being we the audience are in on it, and I think it's a comment on the franchise itself. So we know as people who play Resident Evil, it's Schlock, melodrama. I mean, think about people who genuinely love the shit, like Grant, right? Yeah, so he thinks the lore is interesting somehow, and he likes all the Leon one-liners and shit like that. And even as like, you know, I mean, I'm I can't even say I'm a fan of Resident Evil, even though I've played many of them, but like they are fun and they've hit a good stride recently where it's like, oh, first person POV with the weak, scared character, then action third-person shooter with the the blending of the survival horror and the cheesy 90s action. Exactly. So they've they've only now just hit that fusion kind of perfectly over the past couple games. I think this film feels knowing in a way that isn't disrespectful, you know what I mean? Where I think he wanted to do something with the protagonist who's kind of a dum-dum, which is fun, and the way that it ends, I think is fun. Uh, where it's just like, oh yeah, this feels true to this character. I mean, he's definitely has willpower, he's not really scared of what's going on, he just wants to get through it. Like, there's that I there's something to that. I think that's that's fun, and it feels kind of like uh an embodiment of like a game protagonist where you're like in a normal horror movie, you'd be like, now fuck this, I'm not doing this. But he the guy's like, you know, takes his job seriously enough to try to go through all this shit or whatever the fuck, right? Yeah, but I think the movie and the filmmakers know that most people think Resident Evil is silly. Like it used to be a horror game. Like, if you think about when it came out the first two in '98 or whatever, and it was creepy. Yeah. PlayStation blocky graphics, the fucking dog jumping. Locked in kidnapping. Yeah, like that's that's creepy. Scary. But modern zombie movies, The Walking Dead has beaten that shit to death. And the franchise has evolved where it's more like aggressive monsters, mutations, abominations, body horror. Last of Us. Gross kind of shit. Well, and Last of Us has taken gone with the zombie stuff too, but I think Resident Evil takes it even further with like weird transformations, uh, you know, campy villains turning into monsters, that kind of shit, transfer that kind of stuff. Uh, where last of us doesn't do that that much.
SPEAKER_00But the rat king and the bloater from The Last of Us is very Resident Evil. There is this was the joke I was thinking is for some reason, all zombie stuff, there's always a fat one. Yeah. That's very funny to me. Like they know it's like we gotta do a we gotta do a big boy. Yeah, yeah. There's always a big fat guy.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. You know, and well, it's that, it's the it's a juxtaposition of expectations of oh, he's gonna be slow, but no, it's still emaciated. Yeah, not this big fat boy. So I think Zach Krager's having fun, and I do feel bad for him because the fans have been fucking kicking his ass.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01But I don't know if those fans have enough self-awareness to know how fucking stupid Resident Evil is. Because I mean, uh they do, they have to fucking know how to do it. They have to. I feel like they have to, but I feel like you have to like the corny melodrama. Yeah, it's like it's I mean, for those who haven't played, at least modern Resident Evil, it's literally like a zombie soap opera. Like that's it's all melodrama, yeah, it's all garbage, none of it makes any fucking sense, but there's creepy, gross monsters.
SPEAKER_00Like your bad guy's like a a like eight-foot-tall mutant guy in like a Gucci suit. Yeah, exactly. And he moves like Agent Smith. It's very Japanese to know. Yeah, well, I don't know if they do. I don't know if they do, but I think they want that. They think that's cool. They think matrix style action scenes and like military machine gun stuff is cool.
SPEAKER_01I know, but that's that's that's also lacking self-awareness, I think, a little bit. I don't know how aware they are of that.
SPEAKER_00I think the Japanese also think it's cool. They're tapped into another thing, which this is something we've talked about this whole time, and it might come up in this is like me and you don't fully click with Japanese culture and how they do stuff, like how they tell stories and pace a goddamn season. But there are people that do click with it, and I think there are people that see Resident Evil for what it is, not on a meta, but on no one-liners are cool, like motorcycle chases are cool.
SPEAKER_01I yes, I'm sure there are those people.
SPEAKER_00There are people that watch AI videos of Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt fighting on a skyscraper, and they go, That's not funny, that is cool.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no, yeah, I agree. I agree.
SPEAKER_00There, those Brad Pitt is Leon Kennedy is cool, yeah.
SPEAKER_01And those people don't have good taste. Just objectively. So what they want out of a Resident Evil movie, like I'm not even interested in. And I'm glad that Zach Krager wasn't interested in that.
SPEAKER_00I don't think anybody except just those people. Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_01Just them. And guess they they have the Paul W. S. Anderson. That's what I was gonna say go for it.
SPEAKER_00And I don't I don't know these losers, I don't talk to them. I don't have people like that in my life. Of course. Do they like those movies? I have no idea.
SPEAKER_01That's what I'm fascinated by. I and Grant again, Grant is the only person I know who have seen all those movies.
SPEAKER_00He kind of likes them.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, because he has bad taste.
SPEAKER_00So that's from okay, so they have what they have.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00They just want to bring this budget then.
SPEAKER_01He liked this one too. But I don't know, and I haven't even made any point. I've just kind of said what the movie's doing. But like to me, it feels like Modern Resident Evil, where and it I like that it's a good adaptation because it's not too self-serious. It is it does go from scary to action, but also it has the meta element of like this is fucking absurd and crazy. The yet the protagonist guy like just saying, oh shit, oh shit, oh shit, all the time, or or or cursing under his breath, yeah, and just being bewildered by a bunch of stuff. I like that. I I think that's fun and that's more grounded. And if if we're making a quote unquote realistic uh movie, you have to have a little bit of that grounding, right? I mean, unless we're going full soap opera where you don't have to live in reality, which they're not really going with this, no, or the melodrama, which the games go with it. But like it's a good game adaptation, I think, because we get kind of the core elements. So we get, and not in a corny, not in a contrived way. It's actually, I I think it's very fun and clever how they do the first person shooting kind of stuff, a little bit of the third person shooting kind of stuff. All the set piece areas. You literally have a sewer, you have a house, you have an office building, you have a laboratory, like yeah, they have you have all these different little things, uh, and dealing with the creepiness in each of those unique settings, which are all in the video games. And I mean, and I I guess we're gonna kind of touch on some spoilers. So if you haven't seen it, you know, I uh and if you don't care, whatever, but if you if you haven't seen it, maybe skip ahead a little bit. I will say, go see it.
SPEAKER_00I had fun.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it is well done. Yeah, I it's a good movie, it's very fun for it to be a patient zero movie in a way, where it's just like this guy is carrying the cure or the element for the cure, and he basically becomes the fucking monster that the uh National Guard is gonna come and try to fucking kill. Because he kills like a bunch of the fucking zombies and all this kind of shit, but he literally is mutating and becoming like whatever the fuck he's becoming one of the main He's the big boss, yeah. Exactly. He turns accidentally turns the big boss, yeah. Which is super fun. I'm like, oh, that's great. Clever because you know that could be one of the complaints, is like, why are we why are we following this protagonist? He's not a character from the game, he seems like a dipshit, blah blah blah blah blah. But once you get up to the end, you're like, oh yeah, he's now the big bad in Raccoon City, and now they're gonna send in Claire, now they're gonna send in whatever Chris Redfield Chris Redfield, like, and they're gonna fucking kill him. Like, that's fun, and it feels like it can still live in the movie, and that made me be like, oh yeah, this is like just like a different perspective of the similar incidents, all those other characters could still exist, and this is just this one dum-dum who is courageous and uh a survivor to a point. This is just his little mini story in this huge world. So I was like, I I like this because while it's doing its own thing, it can still fit in to that world of the games and the larger narrative and whatever bullshit lore people uh you know might might want.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um, so I really respect that. And yeah, I really like how lean it is, and it just goes it moves extremely well. I just think for what it is, a resonant evil, horror action game adaptation. I think it made a lot of very smart choices. The filmmaking was engaging, and I laughed my ass off many times. And I thought on Letterboxd, I gave it four stars. I don't think I'm gonna watch it again either. I just think for what it is, it is extremely good for what it is.
SPEAKER_00Most most most people that I follow on Letterboxd gave it four. That's that seems to be the consensus, is it's super well made. Like real big complaints. No one's saying uh a movie of the year, but uh most of everyone's like, no complaints. You get in, you get out, you have a good time, it was fun, you get your money's worth.
SPEAKER_01Resident Evil movies should not be good. Because Resident Evil games are not good, the narrative is not good. Sure. So you're adapting a game which is interactive into a narrative which is not interactive. So having to do that, uh I that's why I think it's just it's so well done because it pulls it off in a very enjoyable way, and not convoluted and not bogged down with bullshit and not melodramatic. It just it's its own thing, yet fits perfectly within the world, I think.
SPEAKER_00I the concept fits perfectly. None of these characters fit in the world of the game, and I think that's where I'm like, I don't know if it fits perfectly. This guy can't meet Leon. Those scientists, if he doesn't kill everybody in that lab and Chris Redfield or Claire goes into that science lab, that doesn't fit. That feels out of place. If that was the video game and that's a lab you go in the game, that doesn't fit. The people in The car that pick them up that doesn't fit. Like none of these things fit the game at all. I don't think the it's it's the same. It's like I get it's the same, but it's it's very different. Like you said, you laughed your ass off. These games aren't funny. I mean they are I mean corny funny. Yeah, they're not laugh out loud funny.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, well, it's because it's just made by different people. Zach Krager has a different sense of humor that's been honed from a comedy troupe and all this kind of stuff compared to Japanese developers who are making this game. But I disagree with you actually. I think because he's clearly trying to make some comment of like these people are fucking morons, they're making some kind of crazy bioweapon, and it gets out, and these are the same people who let it out that are in this lab, so they're fucking morons and they're cowards.
SPEAKER_00But the game wouldn't play them like that style of moron.
SPEAKER_01You would never you never see those people because they're all fucking dead.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01They're the ones who have scribbled on the notepads like, uh, I've did this with the mix-up. It makes sense.
SPEAKER_00I had sex with a bug and bugs have sentience. Exactly. Like that's a real thing in one of the games, I think.
SPEAKER_01Those are the people we just get to see them for the first time. Because if the umbrella corporation is anything, it's fucking inept. So I think it fits. To me, it fits. Those are fucking dumb asses, and they're gonna die. And guess what? They do die. And they're the ones who created it and let it out. While there might be some yeah, Gucci wearing uh agent Smiths out there who are pulling the strings, these are just the people on the ground who are the dumb fucks who let it out. So I get what you're saying, but to me, it's just like I think those people do exist in Res Evil, they're just all dead already. When the game's I get that.
SPEAKER_00I do get that. I think what while we're talking about this, and while I'm trying to think who would make the game people want, my brain always goes to one name where I think he can do bad things better than expected. And I'm always using the same I used them for Twilight, I use them for every Gore Verbinski would give you the resident evil gate. He knows CG, he knows Creature, he knows corny, he knows cool, yeah, yeah, he knows creepy. Uh the guy's built for the he he makes movies that live in the way better than I expected. Yeah, he that's how you should describe every Gore Verbinski. That movie's way better than it should have been.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Mouse Hunt's fun, and that's not something I should say.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, he I th and uh nine would be a great adaptation for him to do Requiem. Yeah, like older Leon, so you kind of get a little bit of the the silliness and the jaded and coming back to the shit while you're infected, uh having to deal with yet another kind of damsel in distress who's traumatized by the the corporation.
SPEAKER_00A blonde Orlando bloom could be a Leon. I guess they're of the he's of that age now.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's true. Yeah, yeah, that's true. But yeah, he could definitely do like the line uh that era for sure.
SPEAKER_00And give you a thing that's cool. I think Resident Evil likes a set piece and they like it to be cool. I think the fans want, maybe not written by, but they want a Taylor Sheridan directed by, they want Wind River type action, they want cool gun stuff, they want gritty, they want to take the military serious and like badasses, they want dual-wielding pistols. Sure. Like, I think they want cool, and I think that's corny. I don't think that's cool. Yeah, I don't think if you if if they made that movie, I more likely wouldn't have seen it. Yeah, I would have looked at that trailer and said, I know what that is, and that's not for me. That looks direct to DVD. Uh David Ayer Resident Evil is what they want, not Terror Surgeon. They want David Ayer.
SPEAKER_01There you go.
SPEAKER_00That's the name. Yeah, that's what they want.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's spawn on, actually.
SPEAKER_00That's what it is. Oh, yeah. And I I this is my thing. That's a bad movie, but a better Resident Evil movie than this. This is a good movie. I don't know if it's a Resident Evil movie. Interesting. It has all the pe like you said, him being the final boss, all the set pieces. The sewer was maybe one of my favorite one of my favorite parts of the whole movie. Yeah. Um, the shotgun stuff at the house, probably my favorite. Yeah. That was that was really awesome and really clever and cool stuff. But like, no, it's this is a good movie. I just don't see Ada Wong showing up in this movie and it it gelling like the game, but I think he's smarter than the game, and he goes, guys, if I make the game, it's a bad movie, and I don't want to make a bad movie. And if I make this game to f if I make my movie to fit in the game world, guess what I did? I made a bad movie. Yep. Because these games are bad stories and they're lame characters. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01We're here for a set piece. We're here, yeah, for ideas and to try to almost say be an homage to the spirit of the fucking game. Exactly. Because yeah, there's and that's there are multiple times where just the barn. You you you mentioned being at the farm with the shotgun and all that stuff. In the barn, when he's getting away from the dog, he pulls up the ladder just like you would in a fucking video game, and you use it to push the thing, and you're like, oh shit, he should have used it for the back. Yeah. And then there's a hook, and then it's like, okay, well, in a video game, you would just jump on the hook and then you'd swing down there, and then it, you know, it's it's it's the subverting of the expectations, which I'm like, this is why it's more quote unquote real life than a video game.
SPEAKER_00That's fun to and I think that's the example of why it's not Resident Evil because my example is that, or the elevator with the puke. Oh, okay. That's a human person in an elevator where acid's being puked on it. He's scared, he's freaking out, and he's also being smart going into the corners, and then he slowly climbs out, uses the puke to kill the other monster. In the Resident Evil world, you're you would be doing that cool, and you'd karate kick the fat guy down the elevator shaft. You wouldn't be scared. You would be composed, you'd have a one-liner, you'd climb out of it. Like the corniness is what the resident evil world would do.
SPEAKER_01He doesn't do the Leon roundhouse kick, but he does make him puke on the monster. That's what I'm saying.
SPEAKER_00Is like pushes him, he's doing the the game stuff, yeah, but not cool, not corny, not one-liner, because he's like a real person in the world.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_00This is what I'm saying is like for a movie, I like it. That's cool. But now we're talking about subversion.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And that's ever since The Last Jedi, this is everyone's greatest fear, yeah, is subverting expectation. It's the cardinal sin for nerds now in film. Yeah. Is you better not subvert my expectations. You better please me with fan service.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you better not subvert my expectations and make a good movie. Exactly. No. Because what I want is fan service and it's a bad movie.
SPEAKER_00If I want a bad movie, then give me a bad movie. Fuck that. Film industry is now uh this is McDonald's. I asked you for a uh, I don't know, uh a Whopper's Burger King, I don't know, a McDouble. Give me my damn McDouble. Not asking you what you want to make.
SPEAKER_01But then also going on the internet and complaining about how everything's the same and the MCU's garbage.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but that's that's where I'm just like, I do get it. I get where if you were a fan and you looked at this and you're like, this doesn't feel like the games I play. This doesn't fit any game. I can't say, oh, it would fit between it's kind of like four, or it's the vibes of the it's none of that, but it's all the things I know done in a completely different way. It just so happened to make it a good and enjoyable movie, and the closer you get to a bad um source material, the movie would be worse for it. Everything that would make this more like Resident Evil or the reasons why I wouldn't have watched it. Yeah, of course. It's I don't like the source material, so I was like, thank god that was fun and cool. Like when he was shooting and he shot the car, I was like, that's awesome. I love that idea. Like all this, uh everything has ideas I like, and then I'm like, yeah, I like it, therefore it's not a resident evil movie. I wouldn't like a resident evil movie, it's impossible. Those are stupid.
SPEAKER_01I disagree with you, but I also agree with you. Yeah, yeah, but I'm glad you saw it.
SPEAKER_00No, I'm glad I saw it, and I did like it. I'm just I'm still I I need more time to think about it because I do fall prey to the oh, I didn't think that's what it was gonna be. I gotta give it time before I go, yeah, therefore I didn't like it. I did have a great time watches. I laughed a ton. Yeah, I thought it was very funny.
SPEAKER_01Nice. Well, speaking of video games, it is time for Nick asks William a question that is not about Nick. New segment. New segment of the podcast. This week's question I am stealing from Mike Sanchez, who asked it to me and he got it from a whatever tweet on Blue Sky. So but I think it's a very fascinating question and uh a little challenging. Okay, possibly. If you have an easy answer, I'd be that's just as interesting as if it's a challenge. And I guess this comes from another podcast, which I won't shout out because they're not sponsoring this. Okay. But what is your quote unquote origin video game? Most gamers have a lot of favorite games, but there's always one that basically defines you. The game that flipped the little switch in your brain and made you into a lifelong gamer. What game is that? So not necessarily your favorite, but what's the game where it's just like, oh yeah, I'm a gamer now? And you may not even have been a conscious thing.
SPEAKER_00I ha I want to say two, but I think it's I think it's one, but I'll we'll talk about both. Um the first one's it's probably gotta be Diablo 2.
SPEAKER_01Wow. On the PC. No shit.
SPEAKER_00Yes. The and this is so much of this makes sense of who I am. I loved watching Carlo, my older brother, play Diablo 2 late at night. So I would just sit and watch him. I wasn't that good at it, and I didn't, I didn't, I never beat it growing up. Yeah, I tried to play it, but I had more fun watching. That was my experience or my introduction into like RPG mechanics, item management. Also, like that opened my brain into I like fantasy, like nights and dark shit, and you know, like sword and board type stuff, you know.
SPEAKER_02I wish I wish you just cut it.
SPEAKER_00That's where I learned I was dark twisted. Yeah, I'm singing twisted, it's the fucking devil, and they go to hell and like babies on fire, and just dark shit. I'm I don't know what I meant. No, I mean, I meant dark shit, but you know what I mean by dark is like gothic. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. It's dark is so corny. It's like it's literally what someone says when they hear corn for the first time. Yeah, or yeah, it's just dark, bro. Yeah, what's the evil yeah, the Marilyn Manson album? It's like, yeah, it was fan uh like dark shit. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, but yeah, that it like tapped into all of that. And I think that was also where my brain opened up into the there's stories behind the like what's a what's a paladin, what's an Amazon, what's a Valkyrie, what what do these names mean? Why every time people talk about Valkyrie it's always a woman? Why are paladins like religious, holy, adjacent? Like it was all of that, and I was like, oh, this like shit means something. And then you learn archetypes of like your rogue means quick and light armor, your you know, your tank, and so I it it opened all of that that is carried over through life, and the other game that I was gonna say is it was a game I was obsessed with was called Gauntlet Legends on the Nintendo 64. I think it started familiar. It started as an arcade console game, like at a like at a bowling alley, you know, like the arcade game, and it was like uh it was like a hack and slash game, and it was similar to Diablo, it was colorful, it wasn't dark gothic type. Oh, yeah, but like yeah, you pick like you have a magician, you have a mage, you have an archer, you have a knight. Wow, and it was a hack and slash, but I played I've never seen that. Yeah, I played on the Nintendo 64. I was addicted, I was obsessed. Wow, that's cool, and I I loved it so much, and it was that thing of uh quick attack, heavy attack, build up a special meter, everyone has a special move, you get power-ups. Wow, you're never fucking heard of that before your different colors were different um outfits. So your mage, the purple one was like Egyptian. Yes, you know that thing? Yeah, so like your red one was like Roman, whatever. Yeah, so uh you have different armor sets, get to play dolly dress up a little bit. Like that game clicked for me of like I like hack and slash, I like arcade style fighter type games. That's great, but yeah, I think Diablo 2 was the one where I was like, I like video games, I like these mechanics, I like these world things. I want to follow this, I want more games that do these things. That's great, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I I love that. Definitely wouldn't have called those two. Yeah. That's because yeah, I was young for Diablo 2. Yeah, for sure. And I had no idea that you had even played it necessarily, because obviously, I mean, we've talked on the podcast a little bit, but yeah, you and Grant and Colin are big Diablo people.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, Diablo 3 was a good one for uh me and my ex because it was good couch co-op. Yeah, I love couch co-op, and that was a fun one. And then four, yeah, I'm still playing, but yeah, I yeah, I would say Diablo 2, because I played games before that, like Mortal Kombat was huge, but I didn't give a shit. Yeah, yeah. You know what I mean? Like it meant nothing. It was fun. The same with like I wasn't that guy, uh Goldeneye didn't like unlock something in my head. Yeah, it was fun, but it didn't go further than that. Diablo 2, yeah, it unlocked things for sure. I like that. Yeah, so yeah, that's my that's my game answer. It's good, yeah. Not bad.
SPEAKER_01I'm learning things, yeah.
SPEAKER_00I am too, because I gotta think about it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, exactly. It's good. And I'm not talking about myself.
SPEAKER_00I did a little bit, but would yours be what I assume? Not no. Okay, don't even answer. No idea what I'll ask you another day unrelated.
SPEAKER_01You can't ask on the podcast.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_01That negates the the how's your gallbladder? Uh it's feeling okay. Yeah. Yeah, I'm gonna go to a did I already talk about this last week? I don't even remember. I said I had sludge. Did I talk about my doctor having a follow-up?
SPEAKER_00You did your uh you didn't do your labs, but you did uh your sonogram or whatever.
SPEAKER_01Oh yes. So yeah, I did I f I found out my results, which I talked about last week's podcast, and I had my follow-up with my doctor who living with instead of dying of. It's an AIDS joke. Uh well, I don't know. We'll we'll see. But I did talk to my doctor, and I'm not gonna disparage my doctor too harshly. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00What gender are they?
SPEAKER_01Just kidding. But my doctor is I've had my primary for this it's one of those, it's it's the lovely ironies of life of at press and all these places, they just chew up doctors and so they just spit them out. So I haven't had like a very consistent primary for a long time until this doctor, but they're very inconsistent. And in terms of like, and I'm not one of these skeptical of doctor people. I get all my booster shots. I'm not some anti-COVID person like many many members of my family. And you've got you're you're kind of the opposite. Yeah, I you always think you're dying. Exactly. You think you got everything, yeah. And I go to the doctor a couple times a year. Yeah, you know, so you love Pfizer. You love Big Pfizer. I'm a shill, yes. They have that's why I'm so broke, is because I keep spending my Pfizer paychecks on Pokemon cards.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, you can't help but get the cool new booster, whether it be Pokemon or COVID. Yeah, you can't help it. You love a booster.
SPEAKER_01You're coming back.
SPEAKER_00Um waking up. Yeah, that's good. Halfway through, that's good.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I'll say something funny five minutes before we get out of here. Yeah, exactly. But I had my little follow-up with my doctor, and I don't know, I'm just fucking the gender thing up, but she said uh I was like, you know, what you know, what should I do? I can get on some kind of is there a prescription for something? She's like, Yeah, there's not really a prescription for it. That's not true. There is, it's some kind of acid thing. I mean, Google told me this, right?
SPEAKER_00But and you googled it before you went in.
SPEAKER_01Yes, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00So when she said that, you already perked up of like this motherfucker's lying to me. No, I mean they're holding back.
SPEAKER_01Well, I mean she's not taking it seriously. Well, look, did she miss that I had shingles in the spring? Yes. She forgot about that. Do I want to hold that against her? No, I don't want to. But but look, and she's a general practitioner, so so she's like, Yeah, the you can't really make the sludge go away. But I'm just gonna give if you want it, I will give you a surgical uh referral so you can talk to a surgeon about taking out your gallbladder.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_01And I'm like, this the the phrasing of if I want to, where it's just like, no, what do you what do you recommend I do? Which I guess, hey, with that kind of stuff, she's a general practitioner, go to a specialist, see what the extra.
SPEAKER_00Now it's a consultation visit, which is not what you were here for. So now you're getting double built.
SPEAKER_01I mean, you know the industry, you know what I mean? That's exactly how this works. So it's disgusting. So I'm like, whatever. Okay, sure, I'll go talk to him about it. I mean, it has flared up. Now I know what this is, it's flared up many times over my life, you know.
SPEAKER_00Now you can track it.
SPEAKER_01Now I can track it and be like, oh, well, it has gone away. I haven't had real stones in the past, never had them getting older, that kind of thing. Not a big fan of the stones. I'm like, okay, yeah, sure, that'd be great. And I'm like, well, there is this something, something acid online for a prescription. Like, would would that be an option? And there's a beat. She's like, well, let's just see what the surgeon says. I'm like, cool. So yeah, I'm gonna go to this surgeon later this week for the consultation. Luckily, I yeah, I could get in kind of very quickly, which is nice, and see what they say and uh see if I think the two options would be try to treat it with this prescription and then get another ultrasound in so many months after you know treating it, yeah, but then it might come back or have the elective surgery, which is thousands of dollars, I imagine, and take out my gallbladder, be out of commission for a week or two. Uh so I don't I don't know.
SPEAKER_00Crazy. Which one does she recommend? The more expensive one?
SPEAKER_01Well, that's an option that is also if I want to has nothing to do with her that says go talk to someone else.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, exactly. I don't crazy it just yeah, we're we're we're so far removed from the world of and and I want to say this. I'm gonna say negative stuff, and then I also want to say a positive men, particularly are so far removed from your doctor having an actual relationship with you. This is this is Jiffy Lube. You're coming in, they checked your chart 10 minutes before you got there, and you're here for one thing. You want to talk about other stuff, I'll bill you for anything you want to talk about. Everything's a separate charge, though. That's how this works. This is a turnover of a bed service. You're in, the quicker I get you out, the quicker I get more money for the next one.
SPEAKER_01Well, and that's that's the whole world now. And these doctors do get paid well, but it's these private equity companies that are doing this who own these medical facilities. So it's those motherfuckers, not the doctors themselves.
SPEAKER_00The the well, the the beauty of it is it has slightly changed for women, where there are more specialists and there are more uh medical professionals. Professionals that are in tune to women-specific scenarios, where that used to be a million times worse for them. Where women would go in and doctors literally are like, I don't know anything about the pussy, I can take it out, or I don't know what else to tell you. Yeah, yeah. I put stuff in it or I take it out. Those are the two things. Exactly. And the women were screwed over this. Like, if you guys ever heard the story of like, there was literally like one nurse that was like, Hey, crazy idea. All these women keep dying during childbirth. Maybe we should wash our hands before we start gett the birthing procedure, and that cut out all the mom deaths. Because these surgeons were going doing surgery, going, Oh, I gotta go help abroad give a baby. They wouldn't wash their hands and they would go deliver the baby, and then the mom dies, and we're like, no one knows why, and we're not gonna look into it.
SPEAKER_01Nature.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, they're just like, oh, that's crazy. I guess she was weak and God wanted her early. Yeah. Whatever, until they were like, I think we should let's just try. Hear me out. Let's wash our hands first, and then like cut the death rate by an insane amount. Sounds about right. So, yeah, like no, our our whole medical system's fucked, and it is for sure they don't know who you are. Yeah, they don't know your scenario, you don't have that relationship, it's not really that anymore. And if you have that, you are deeply lucky. Oh, yeah. Because it is very rare with medical. Yeah. Uh I think it's different for dental. I think a lot of people, your your dentist is way more one-on-one, way more personal.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, because they don't they run their own practices. Exactly.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, they're not working for a giant fucking conglomerate and being run into the ground.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, they work four days a fucking week.
SPEAKER_00And the here in New Mexico, the medical malpractice lawsuits are insane. Yes. The insurance coverage won't help. Yeah. So most people will go to school here and then they move out of state. Yeah, because you can be pretty sued pretty easily. And it's very easy and very expensive, and you don't have assistance as the the medical side of it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I mean, it's and yeah, you know, filming depositions before I, you know, did my current job, it was a lot of med mal stuff. And yeah, so you get a lot of uh yes, I wouldn't get a lot of small town medical care out here in New Mexico. Uh unfortunately. I mean, they try to cover their liabilities, and every time you go to the doctor, it's like all these people are independent contractors. It's like, yeah, uh-huh. I'm sure they fucking are. That's not gonna stop you from getting sued. No. Because you don't officially work for the fucking private equity company that owns Presbyterian, you fucking pieces of shit. Presbyterian's going through it, man.
SPEAKER_00They're having a rough go this year.
SPEAKER_01I I but yeah, I mean, it's just it it's infuriating the systems that we have here in the United States, all in the name of just fucking making money to make lives worse for our citizens. What a fucking shithole this place is.
SPEAKER_00That's a business part anymore. That's done for. No, it's not about and it'll never shift. Well, it just won't. Not in the United States, probably. No, it it won't. If they go state to state, a few states, uh Massachusetts might, Maine might, you know, like those super blue but also small and rich. Yeah, they could pull something off Delaware or Connecticut, somewhere up there, Washington State, maybe they could pull something off, but like it would have to be state to state. Yeah. Because it's it's just too hard. And we're rural as hell, dude. Yep. There's so few places to get quality care. Yeah. Yeah, no, it's it sucks. I hate it, and that's uh one of the things I'm struggling with in my life right now is work is so stressful and work is so difficult. The conversation always turns up of like, I don't know, you gave it a good go. You've been there seven years, maybe it's time to move on to something else. I don't want to go anywhere near medical. I'm not scared, like I can do it as a job, but like for my soul.
SPEAKER_01I almost started making a chicken noise. Becoming a 1980s bull.
SPEAKER_00But like, yeah, for my soul. Yeah. Morally, I don't want to deal with medical. Yeah. Because it's gross. Evil shit, man. But I don't know. I'm running out of options, so we'll see. Yeah. I don't know. But yeah, I'm glad you're getting better.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I've been feeling better, haven't had another attack. I'm I'm trying to eat uh better, which is a huge part of it. And that was another thing, too. I asked her, I'm like, okay, so what should I be doing? She's like, oh well, you can help your slightly fatty liver and the gallbladder issue by eating a low-fat diet and lots of fruits and vegetables. I'm like, yeah, okay, I'm not a complete fucking moron. I am one of the everyone knows how to eat health. Not everyone does, but but generally it's like, oh yeah, okay, eat less saturated fats, eat less simple carbs like sugars, eat more vegetables, eat more fruits. Yeah, okay, gotcha. And then I'm like, okay, with follow-up questions, when I asked about the prescription, and then I was like, is there a certain number of grams of fat that I should shoot for every day? Like just ballpark. I already knew the answer. I looked it up. And she's not gonna want to say it. And and she goes, you know, just there's no real number different for everybody, and so just stick with the low fat. And then she repeated, eat more fruits and vegetables. I'm like, are you reading off a fucking paper here, man? Yeah, like you motherfucker, you have my weight, you have my height, you have my blood work. Like, but yet, guess who would make that? Uh uh, you know, they would make suggestions a fucking dietitian. So I would need to be, you know, introverted yet to another specialist. Which is funny. I'm like, god damn it, man.
SPEAKER_00Because you're walking backwards into something that a a very famous bald podcaster has been talking about for the last couple years. Oh, and it is this idea of like how broken the healthcare system is, and how much of this you're kind of sort of at a certain point, you're you're not better off, but you you need to talk more to a nutritionist than just a general practitioner. And nobody in the medical field has to or does take nutrition classes, yeah. So they don't know any of it. They have to get up on their own. They know the guidelines, but not they know the rules, they know the they know the key talking points like she's giving you, but they can't get into it. But a nutritionist and a dietitian could, and I think one of the people that was hired to look over the healthcare place that talks like Skeletor, he's pretty big on no, it we need to tackle nutrition and education and things like that. And that's where I fall in that weird tricky thing of like, I agree with a good thing an evil person is saying. It sucks that an evil person is saying it, though. You know what I mean? Like an utter idiot is making one of the smartest points to be said right now, and it sucks.
SPEAKER_01It's the broken clocks right twice a day thing, you know.
SPEAKER_00It's like you you did do the research to know what to be crazy about, yeah, and also smart about. It just sucks. You you have a crazy brain that you get excited for the crazy stuff. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because you you you you you hit the nail on the head with a a few of these things of like, we do need to fix what our food is. Yeah. It's that joke of like so much of our food's just flat out illegal in London. Like it's just illegal. You know what I mean? Like our candy and our cereal.
SPEAKER_01Oh, just how much sugar is how much added sugar is in it, stuff like that.
SPEAKER_00Like the color of orange fanta in every other country, you wouldn't even know that's orange fanta. Yeah, yeah. It's insane what we're eating here, yeah. And the portion size and stuff like that. Sure. And it every once in a while, someone with a uh a parasite in their brain will come on TV and go, we should do something about that. Do they, as of yet? No. They at least say it, which bugs me because of how bipartisan and polarizing we are. That just means all of those good ideas, the dumb idiot said, Yeah, the next person that comes in, they won't say it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Because it'll sound too much like them. And it sucks that nutrition's in that fight right now. Yeah, yeah. Versus like, damn it, dude, whoever wins next time, they won't talk about this stuff. Because they gotta stay away from the people that are talking about it. Which is valid because how dumb we are as a people. Sure. I get it. Yeah, yeah. It it bums me out. Because yeah, you need to talk to a nutritionist.
SPEAKER_03Or talk to your claw robot about your diet.
SPEAKER_01I'll I'll Google it and do it. Use your AI secretary. Use my own do my own research. Yeah, independent research. And become anti-vax. Uh no, just kidding. But yeah, there's fucking guidelines. You can just look them up online, you know what I mean? And just take take what you can. And anything that sounds ridiculous is ridiculous, and don't do that. So, yeah, we'll we'll see. I'm I'm feeling okay. We'll see what the surgeon says. And do I really want to get my gallbladder out? Not really. I don't want to do elective surgery necessarily. If it's like this can keep flaring up or something like that, and it could lead to long-term bad things or something like that, sure. Fucking take it out.
SPEAKER_00But if it's like a point in overtime, like you have sludge forever.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_00You can either just live with the levels you're at or get more, that sucks. Yeah, exactly. But if it's also one of those of like, no, yeah, you some life changes will calm it down. Yeah, I'm almost I'm almost 40.
SPEAKER_01I can't change eat ice cream as much as I eat ice cream. I can't eat pizza as much as I eat pizza. I could have, you know, and I'm not gonna cut those things out of my life entirely. When I'm what do I not want to be happy?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, you know, uh you gotta counter it with the good stuff more, which you probably don't have a ton of good stuff in.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so just you know, it's it's about the balance and just not being lazy. It's it's just effort. It's just not being a punk pitch.
SPEAKER_00It's just effort. That's always my fight whenever I was trying to eat better, or someone's always like, Oh, you should cut out Cokes. It's like you're subtracting a fun positive out of my life, and you didn't replace it with a positive. So my life is now at a net negative. Why are you doing that to me? Why do you want me to die sadly? Yeah, it's that thing of like you gotta replace it, and they go, Well, we're gonna replace it with living longer. Like living longer without Dr. Pepper is a punishment. Not living longer, yeah. Replace it with something positive, and they go, Well, broccoli's pretty good.
SPEAKER_01And I'm like, Yeah, living without stab you in your eye. The old doc ain't living at all.
SPEAKER_00Exactly. Yeah, like shut your face. How dare you! Yeah, but getting Chipotle immediately when I leave your house. And I've been thinking about it for four days. Yeah, yeah. Because I haven't had it this week.
SPEAKER_01Oh, that's good.
SPEAKER_00But that's probably good. Yeah, you've you know, just gotta cut back and uh live like an old man. We're there, dude. We're there. No, we're talking about climate and body and that's fine.
SPEAKER_01It's good.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I'd rather wanna run.
SPEAKER_01I wanna be around for my kid if I can, and and yeah, I gotta lose some weight for running anyway.
SPEAKER_00You know, yeah, you like running.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So yeah. And I yeah, it's you know, it's all right. I'll be fine, but we'll see what the the consultant uh says after they take my $55 copay. I hate it. God bless America so much, God bless America, William.
SPEAKER_00I have to ask you this, and I'm so curious, and I've been thinking about this since we recorded. You felt a pain in the middle of the night went to the bathroom. Yes, didn't help with the pain.
SPEAKER_01Correct.
SPEAKER_00You called 911.
SPEAKER_01Yes. This is after rolling on the ground, like this is after many, many like 30 minutes, but yes. I didn't just go take a dump and then be like, all right, 911.
SPEAKER_00No, well, I'm this is where because I'm thinking what I would do in that scenario, and what would you do in that scenario? What did Kira say about you calling 911?
SPEAKER_02Oh, well, I didn't tell her until after that.
SPEAKER_00That's what this is that was my assumption, and I didn't want to make that assumption. Is I was like, well, I think you spent a good more than an hour going through this, and you secretly called 911 without consulting with the people in your your house.
SPEAKER_01No, well, here the thing is it's tough when it's four in the morning. You have your wife who is asleep in your bed, she has work in the morning. Yeah. Okay. And you have your three-year-old son who you don't want to wake up at four in the morning.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Because he has school in the morning, and he's sleeping in your bed, too.
SPEAKER_00You'd be a burden. Exactly. I love the idea of even though dying would be more. If you're on the floor rolling around, like you t I envisioned you took your shirt off, and you're like, maybe like a lizard, the cold will help my belly, and you're like flat on. And then you go, you know what? I gotta call 911 because I think I'm dying and I need to get out of here. I love the idea. If it didn't go away, because it went away, and you told them, like, I'm fine, you guys can leave. Let me sign and get out of here. If it didn't, you going into the room going, Hey Kara, baby, I'm gonna dip out real quick. I'm going to night. I called 911. They're gonna get me. I'll talk to you. I'll I'll call you when I'm back. I did say that. That's so funny to me that you in your head would have like, hey, I'm just gonna, I'm gonna step out real quick. I'll be back.
SPEAKER_01I am well you can't call 911 and then they're gonna send something you can't tell your wife. That's stupid. You can't tell, like, so so I'm in the back bathroom, and I'm like, I can't die right here and not have someone know, right? So I'm like paralyzed with pain. And I'm like, I think this is the worst pain I have felt for this amount of time that isn't going away and nothing is helping. I'm like, I have to call 911 because I don't know what to do. I'm just it's not stopping. So I call them, I talk to the lady. I'm like, okay, this is kind of helping. She does because it's making me focus on giving her information uh instead of focusing on the pain. And then it was slowly starting to go down after I got off the phone. So I went to Tokyo. I'm like, all right, has some horrible pain or whatever. I called 911. It's starting to feel better, I'm just gonna tell them to go away. And then so I go outside, wait for them, and then come back.
SPEAKER_00That makes me think maybe potentially if you told her, hey, I'm not feeling well, I was in the bathroom for a while, that didn't work, and then she's doing the focus questions. What do you feel? Where and then it starts going away while you're talking.
SPEAKER_01So that's an interesting thing is she and I panic in the same way. Okay, so we can't do that kind of thing. Because if I tell her, Oh, I think I'm dying, she goes, You are. No, she's I knew it, I had a dream about it. But it's gonna make her stress out. Yeah. And she can't do anything to help me necessarily. I mean, she could call 9-1 or something like that, right?
SPEAKER_00But but she could drive you, she could call, but she can't make you feel better.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so I don't want to add that stress onto her, you know what I mean? Especially at four in the fucking morning. I don't want to wake up. Leo, it's stupid, but at the same time, I have my reasons. I get it.
SPEAKER_00Um I go in if I had that scenario, which I I I have a few times with stuff. If I'm in a relationship, but again, this says so much about me. I think I'm dumb and I don't know what's going on, so I immediately think two things. One, I gotta run this by somebody because they're gonna level, they're gonna set me straight. But two, I can't call 911, I would get in trouble for calling and wasting people's time.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00You know what I mean? Like, I'm still in that little kid head of you're gonna make this a real thing, and someone's like, What are you doing? And I'm like, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean I shouldn't have touched the phone. I'm not supposed to use the phone. Yeah, that's for my yeah. So I, in those scenarios, I'm I'm very quick to be like, hey, I don't feel well. I need you to to come help me because I think I'm dying. Clearly, I'm an idiot and I don't know what's going on. And you're smarter than me. And by you, I mean anybody in the vicinity. Yeah. So I'm I'm I'm quicker to go there. Always uh you're smarter than me. Of course. But yeah, I'm quicker to go to somebody and say, I think I'm wrong, so help me figure out what's right.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no, I just I immediately am like, oh, this is something is rupturing something. But and I literally was like jumping up and down. If you have appendicitis, you can't jump and it hurts really fucking bad. It was fine.
SPEAKER_00Have you had appendicitis before? So you look that up and you knew that's the thing is you're doing all this research. Well, I've known that for years because you've almost died of appendicitis a few times. Sure. You didn't have it, but you did. No, in the moment you did.
SPEAKER_01I had this, yeah, but now I know what it is. So yeah, it was it's not smart necessarily. But hey, there's nothing dumb about that. No, I mean you should but I I just don't want to and that's this is another sign of, and I mean uh I don't know how much you have this, but yeah, growing up without parents who validate your feelings and that kind of shit leads to people not wanting to burden others with how they feel. Yeah, that's a huge thing in my life. Yeah. I'm just like, nah, no one's gonna care. Like and I don't want to bug them.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, you're you're I get it. You're you're just so much more extreme on that than I am. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Where when I'm in a relationship, I'm like, you gotta pick up the slack that I didn't have, so I need you to do those things because I'm desperate for it. Sure. Instead of being molded by it, going, Well, I can't.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I'm like, nobody cares, so I gotta do it myself.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I don't have that. Yeah, well, I do in different ways. But yeah, like in this way, I'm like, no, I need someone to take care of me right now. Yeah, you gotta help me out here. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01No, I'm like, no one's gonna believe me.
SPEAKER_00I love the idea of you waking her up being like, I'm gonna step out.
unknownI'm dying.
SPEAKER_00Of a thing I actually haven't told you I've been having trouble with for a few years. I mean, she's not on that. I don't know. That'd be that's a question for her. You know what I mean? Like you're like, one, had it since teenager, this pain. Yeah. Also, I wasn't in bed with you tonight. I've been in there for four hours trying to shit, and I've been naked, and I rolled on the floor. I had a whole night that you don't know about. And I'm gonna dip out these guys. The firefighters are here, they're gonna carry me away. Yeah, wouldn't the dude like, what the fuck?
SPEAKER_01You're like, no, it's just no, she knows how that's how I am, you know. Um, yeah, and I when I went outside and I was waiting for the guys, uh, they like got all out of the fire engine and all this stuff.
SPEAKER_02I'm like sub boys, and I'm like, hey, yeah, I'm okay. They're like, oh, we thought you were the person who's just gonna lead us to whoever was having the issue. I'm like, no, it was me. Yeah, they were they're looking for someone on the floor.
SPEAKER_01But then I was trying, but then I was smart a little bit afterwards where I was resting on the couch and then it flared up again. And as it was flaring up, I immediately got up and told Kara, I'm like, okay, let me get dressed and we can go to urgent care or whatever. So once everyone was awake, I had no problem asking for help, you know.
SPEAKER_00My dad knowing it got that bad. My dad is like you. He had diverticulitis for a long time. I don't know what that is. So, what it is is you have essentially like holes in your intestine. A lot of people get it with bad diet. Sure. So like a nut will go through Excuse me. Um or like if you have like a horrible, like super red meat, like a lot of like shitty athletes get it. Okay, and it'll go and it'll cut or like perforate your parts of your intestine. So you're leaking and like it's bad. He had this for a very long time, like more than a year. Wow. And it was just oh, dad get. Stomach aches.
SPEAKER_01Got the bubble gut.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And it's not like, oh, I have diarrhea. It's I have a horrible cramping pain that I can't move.
SPEAKER_01Jesus.
SPEAKER_00And he's just like holding it aside while you're at the mall. You're like, what's wrong? He's like, I just hurts. I can't move. But we're outside of an HM and he's dying in front of you. And he's just holding it, being like, You think the eagle's gonna shot this? What are you doing? You're dying in front of me. Why are you doing this? He's like, I'm fine. Gay people die. I don't die. Like, you know what I mean? He's like, that's for pussies. Yeah, yeah. Not for Navy Man William. Exactly. He's had that for so long. And then one year, when they lived in Socorro, uh-huh, and my mom and Sean were at some event, he's home alone. It got so bad, he fell to the floor, just like he can't crawled over in pain.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00And he's like, damn it, gotta call 911. And he had to crawl outside to meet them. Jesus Christ. And they were gonna they were gonna helicopter him to Albuquerque. He's like, that's sounds expensive. I'll drive. I'll see you there. And they're like, get in the fucking ambulance, you idiot. Yeah, yeah. And like, yeah, no, he almost died because of that. Yeah, it's really bad. Yeah. And his gallbladder almost ruptured. Wow. And if that ruptures and you have holes in your intestines, you get sepsis and it's game over. Exactly. Yeah. And he was really, really close to game over. All because he was just like, yeah, this is what happens. Just your body's supposed to hurt constantly all the time. Yeah. He's like, I don't want to tell anybody. I won't do anything about it.
SPEAKER_03Jesus.
SPEAKER_00What are you doing? Yeah. Crawling on the floor. He's he and he told me and he was embarrassed to say, he's like, no, I was on the floor in the driveway when the ambulance came. Like I was crawling. And they had to come get me because he couldn't walk. It's like, that's insane. Yeah, that's terrible. What are you gonna do? That's what men do. They they die on the floor.
SPEAKER_01Now I'm just gonna be thinking about my gallbladder rupturing and getting sepsis. Ugh. No, because you're taking care of it. No, I know. Yeah, I'm trying to. Yeah, that sounds about right. Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00It is you you do have uh boomer tendencies. I don't wanna I don't wanna concern anybody. I don't want to be in the way. Yeah. Yeah, you will be that old.
SPEAKER_02And then when and then when people ask me for help, I'm like, who the fuck are you? I don't know for help.
SPEAKER_00Some sissy. What do you want some hand down? Yeah, exactly. Get the hell out of here. As for hippies. Yeah, yeah. Oh god, that's horrible. It is very funny. I love this. I love this so much the idea of you just telling someone you're you're gonna dip out for a little bit, but it's because the firefighters are here. Like that's not a scary thing to wake up to. Oh no, I'm sure it is. Like, could you imagine the reverse? Kira's like dressed, she's like, hey, I'm gonna go out. The ambulance is taking me away. You're like, wait, what? You wake her up like a CKY prank, just screaming in her head like she's Phil. Antique flower. You kick the door open and like you know, throw something through the window. You're like, ah, I'm dying. Yeah, yeah. Five seconds, what do you do? Right now, I'm dying. Yeah, it's not that.
SPEAKER_01No, yeah, I don't know. Hopefully, it'll be alright. We'll we'll see what the next few months will look like. Hopefully, it's just medication and say, or whatever, a good thing. Diet and whatever. My thing taken out and yeah, people do it all the time. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, so well, that's we'll cross whatever bridge we have to when you get there.
SPEAKER_00Talk about it with the people you love and keep them in the loop with your health and well-being.
SPEAKER_01Exactly. Gotta gotta gotta try that at some point. One of these days.
SPEAKER_00No. Or like you gotta sit down to hang. No, it hurts to stand. Oh, absolutely. You don't want to be that guy.
SPEAKER_01No. Yeah, I mean, that's why you know I try to exercise and stuff. Gotta keep up with a insane three-year-old running around like a madman at all times.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. But he's not that crazy.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I was hanging out with some crazy kids a couple weeks ago.
SPEAKER_01I mean, he's he can be crazy. He's getting to that point. Yeah. But uh, you know, we don't Yeah, when kids are with other children with their peers, they go nuts. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I also I love watching kids. Excuse me? That's it. That's the story. This whole thing. So these up no, I love watching their brains like i I don't know how to explain it. Here's the example. We're out eating and he got ketchup like on the edge of the table. Yeah. And he didn't want to like touch it with his hand. So, like, to see his brain like short circuit of like, how do I get this ketchup up without touching it? He's just like, uh, and so he just like smooshed his hamburger on it. You know what I mean? Like he just smushed the whole kid logic. Yeah, the kid logic of like you get a paper towel, you wipe it up, you're good. He just smooshed it on his burger and then he moved it thinking it would like disappear. And so it stamped it and spread it, and he's just like, I don't know what to do with this. So he just left that part of the table. You know what I mean? Like he just moved to another part of the table. I love watching their brains come to like the end of the road and they kind of short circle. Like, yeah, well, that didn't work, but yeah, like the same thing when dogs are like carrying a bone through a gate, yeah, and they don't know to turn or like drop and pick it up. Exactly. I don't know, man. My hands are full.
SPEAKER_01Because they have they have object permanence, yeah, but it's only if things are in front of them necessarily. They don't have like spatial permanence yet. They don't understand that. Yeah, we were talking to Leo about his teachers not being at school at the weekends. And it was the first time that he thought about it. Because generally, you know, he probably never thought about considered what his teachers did outside of school. But we were like, Yeah, no one's at the school during the weekend. And he's just like, the teachers aren't there? Yeah, it's like, no, they're at home, they're normal teachers. Some of your teachers are home right now with diarrhea.
SPEAKER_00Like, that's a thing that happens.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's like they're just normal people like us. They just, you know, and you just see him kind of file that away where thinking about school and no one being there and thinking about teachers being outside of the world. Because I remember that, you know. It's like when you see teachers out in the wild for the first time, you're like it's like way to think why aren't you in the classroom? Yeah, so it's it's fascinating to see him kind of clock some of that stuff. And I want to talk about this before we get into the season finale, as we've just been fucking rambling on and on and on about your stupid guts. But they talked about you or you and whatever.
SPEAKER_02You sure you want to talk about it? It sounds like you couldn't give less a shit.
SPEAKER_01No, I'm just annoyed with myself with not knowing how to fucking talk about anything or transition whatsoever. We had talked about it with whenever you whenever you got here, you had asked Leo what he's been doing today, and it got brought up that he played a bunch of Star Wars this morning with Kira, which involves him just blasting the soundtrack on Kira's phone and running around saying that he's flying the Millennium Falcon or whatever. He has a couple land speeders. He he got a new land speeder at uh Scump Comics shout out uh yesterday from literally from 1995 for $20. Awesome. Uh, but I've been kind of having a negative relationship with Star Wars lately.
SPEAKER_04What?
SPEAKER_01I know, right? I mean, I haven't seen one of the movies in a while. I haven't seen Mandalorian Grogu. You know, it's just like every time I think about it, it kind of bums me out, even though I love it very much. I just feel like that I'm I was getting to the point where I'm just like, uh like it just bums me out. I'll see the book, I'll see an art book or something like that. Like go before going to bed. I have we have some bookshelves in my room or in our room, and um I'll see it's like the rise of Skywalker fucking art book, and I'm just like god damn it.
SPEAKER_00You know, it's just in my head, I'm just like, I feel like Did you buy that because you needed to complete the set? Yes. Okay, I was like, why did you buy that? That makes sense.
SPEAKER_01I would and there's that. There's great concept art in it. I mean, sure, you know, great artists, but I'm like, fuck man, I'm getting I'm I always compare it to like, and this sounds very grandiose, but I think of God. I think of the arc of Simon Pegg's relationship with Star Wars, where once the prequels came out, he rent really hard and fucking hated them. Yeah, and then he kind of dipped out and was just like, yeah, Star Wars is pretty good. And then as he got older and his kid got older, he's just like, Yeah, they're just they're just movies. Very coming of age. They meant a lot to me back then. I'd I'm kind of apathetic to them now. And I think you know, being on uh The Force Awakens kind of made him be like, Oh yeah, I don't I don't care stuff anymore for me. Yeah, yeah. So I was like, I'm kind of feeling that where it's not worth it after the sequel trilogy, getting invested in any of this stuff, even though I really enjoy those, and I was just kind of feeling down about it. But man, these past couple days where Leo's been cranking that soundtrack, I'm like, oh yeah, Star Wars is amazing. And hearing those fucking John Williams cues just over and over again, I'm just like, God, so much of Star Wars is that music. Specifically from the Return of the Jedi special edition. Um, but it's just like it's so good. Yeah, it's amazing, and it's such an embedded part of the experience. That music can't exist without Star Wars, and Star Wars can't exist without that music. And I was like, okay, it's making me soften on it a little bit.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and I know Leia's theme, the princess arrives or whatever, it will stop me dead in my tracks no matter what I'm doing. That when the those horns come in, I'm just like, oh shit.
SPEAKER_01Oh, it's so good, and the opening theme, the Imperial March, fucking Duel of Fates. He's been listening to that, and I'm just like, holy shit, this is so fucking cool. Yeah, I do. It's up there with a theme. It's so good. Yeah. So I'm like, okay, all right. Uh so I don't feel fully jaded, and uh, it's it's kind of at least freed up a little bit of space in my mind that was occupied with kind of sour feelings, you know, for the past couple years. So I'm just like, alright, it's okay.
SPEAKER_00It is the most mixed bag thing of all time. Like we talk about it all the time. It's like even the original trilogy that people uh uh uh praise as the holy text is like yeah, I don't know, man. Even the three movies this is built upon, they're good. Yeah, everyone's gonna argue one of them's great. Yeah, not all three are great, you know what I mean? Like, even just the what this was built upon is good.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and I and I think people don't admit that enough. Yeah, especially when it comes to the sequel trilogy, which actually it's it's crazy how much the sequel trilogy actually mirrors uh the original trilogy in terms of like quality and all these kind of things, but and the prequels are kind of their own thing, you know. Which it's yeah, it's a it's just a very strange franchise. It's a very strange thing.
SPEAKER_00We don't have to really dive into it. Well, yeah, I was gonna say we don't even have to talk about that. I'm very curious and fascinated with the idea of Leo hasn't seen it, and he probably won't for a couple years. There's so much it I we to keep it with our podcast and what we talk about, is like I don't know, I'd be way more excited to show him Avatar the Last Airbender. I'd be way more excited to show him Pokemon, to you know, like Zelda video games, I'd be way more excited to show him uh Elden Ring and Lady Maria from Bloodborne and you know to tell him the lore of Mikola. Of course, but like there's so many other things now where I'm like, I don't know. I don't know if Star if I had a kid, I don't know if Star Wars is here's the thing. I was thinking about this when he was talking about and he said he hasn't watched the movies, but they listen to the music. It immediately made me think of like, I'm way more excited for Leo to see Jurassic Park than I am Star Wars.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00You talk about John Williams, and you talk about like a kid movie to open his brain. I wanna yeah, I'm like, ooh, Jurassic Park, dude. That's the shit. You know what I mean? Yeah, but it's not the same now because he's might have seen things uh pertaining to larger than life and spectacle and you know CG maybe.
SPEAKER_01Luckily not yet, because yeah, he's very he's still very sen. It's not it's gonna be a few years until he, you know, we've talked about going to the movies and stuff like that, but I'm like, yeah. Yeah, you you're gonna take him to see Dune 3. Yeah, exactly. Uh but it's you know, maybe once he's six or something, he's still just too sensitive to peril. So yeah, literally we were literally watching one of his PBS kids shows yesterday, The Weather Hunters. I've talked about this. Al Roker.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I watched it with him a little bit. Exactly.
SPEAKER_01I've talked about it. It's a very good kid show, uh, in terms of like PBS shows. Oh, they're all educational, whatever. But uh, I'm not talking like narrative-wise or anything like that. They're just it's like, okay, cool. This is not annoying, it's teaching him something, it's engaging for him. Yeah. And I put one on for him because he didn't recognize the title. I'm like, oh, this is about getting new weather icons or something. Literally, Al Roker's character gets new digitized weather icons for his fucking flying van that is his weather station as a meteor, a meteorologist. Uh, sorry, Al Hunter, played by Al Roker. Interesting. And I turn on the episode and Leo goes, Oh, this is the one where he spills his water bottle. I don't want to watch it, Dad. And I'm like, Because a couple episodes ago, there was one where they were at the console in the van, and he's like, Oh, he's gonna spill his water bottle. He's I I don't want to watch this. Let me hide. Because he likes to hide behind me or under a pillow when something dramatic like spilling a water bottle uh happens. And it didn't happen in that episode like last week. Yeah. And I'm like, see, it didn't happen. But this one, he was like, Oh, this is the one. This is really I'm like, Well, now you know that he spills it and you've seen this before, so it should be okay. And he's like, No, I don't want to watch it, let's change it to something else. I don't like I'm like, God damn it, man.
SPEAKER_00Because this comes from Kira beats you when you drop things in the house.
SPEAKER_01I I know I'm like, Kira slugs you in the face when you spill your your Yeti mug. It's the perfect storm of of me and Kira's anxiety. Somehow, and we're we try not to be anxious around him, yeah. But it's like already he's like, nope, nope, can't handle it.
SPEAKER_00He can feel the heightened tension in the room, and he's like, Yeah I don't something's happening.
SPEAKER_01I don't know, man. I don't know where he uh it comes from, but yeah, it's just so funny. So it's gonna be a while. Yeah. Until like we we tried to put on uh a Spider-Man show, I think it's like the the new animated one.
SPEAKER_00Spider-Man and Friends or something like that.
SPEAKER_01Well, they we it's that one he was confused by because he's like, wait, how many Spider-Man are there?
SPEAKER_00Oh, you gotta teach him the multiverse and stuff and then let women be Spider-Man.
SPEAKER_01Well, we watched a little bit of Spider-Verse, which he did like, but once we got to Peter A. Parker dying, he got too scared. Yeah. So we turned it off. But we watched Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. That's what it was. It's like the new Marvel one CGI, yeah, which he liked until like the first villain shows up. It's like Venom or something. I don't know, it's some kind of symbiote. And then he's immediately like, nope. Has he watched the Lego shows? No, he haven't tried those.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that might be fun. And they're silly, they're they're good jokes, and they're actually they do good stuff. Lego Batman would be good, probably, actually. The um the Lego Avenger stuff is very funny.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's true. We could do Lego Star Wars stuff too, but there'd be spoiler jokes in that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Um, I have a question for you, and then we can get into the thing, and I won't answer it. This is my question to you. I'm curious. Okay. The reason why I'm curious about this is because I think me and you appreciate art, whether it be music or movies, and we always talk about we were exposed to things that we probably shouldn't have been, we were too early for. Yeah. I think everybody has the joke of our age that our dad showed us Terminator 2 way too early. Yeah. That's an insane movie to be watching when you're like six years old.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00But what's the first movie that was rated R that you saw in theaters?
SPEAKER_01The first ones that I can remember. So I remember going to the cinema for a lot in the mall in Roswell, and I would fall asleep during rated R movies. Because my parents just wanted to go see them. Yeah. And I probably I just probably bugged them to go. Because I don't remember my sister ever being there. And she probably could have watched me because she was old enough. But or she just hated me back then. So they're like, yeah, don't leave her with them. Um but I swear it had to have been the ones that are coming to mind is like Broken Arrow, literally eight millimeter. I saw that in theater.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And that's like a snuff film movie, which I don't I remember that much of it, but I remember being there. Yeah. I mean, the first one actively I remember going to where I wasn't a little kid, and I actually wanted to see was Blade. So these ones were a couple maybe only a year before then, right? I was gonna say Blades the first 98.
SPEAKER_00Blades the first R rated, I saw without my parents. Meaning Carlo, yeah. So that was like Mom and Dad ain't even here.
SPEAKER_01No, my dad took me to see Blade because we wanted to see Blade. But I think the year before I think Broken Arrow is 97, maybe. I think so, yeah. Around that time, yeah. I don't know if that's rated R. But yeah, but yeah, eight millimeter. I remember going to see eight millimeter. So funny. Which is like, yeah, what the fuck?
SPEAKER_00But sick and twisted.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. It's it's something like that in the theater with my parents. It's it's gotta be one of those. Those are the ones that are pop up.
SPEAKER_00But it didn't fuck with you. You don't rem really register it. No, not really. Not those.
SPEAKER_01Like those weren't the ones where you're just like no, because I was more about like alien creatures and stuff. It was like seeing those. The unknowable was much scarier than like seeing it. Or even just jarring or whatever.
SPEAKER_00Because in Blade, it hit me. Yeah. Where I was like, oh, yeah, I forgot. I'm a kid watching a radar movie. Is in the opening at the club before they do the fight scene. The dude's making out with one girl while another girl's blowing him. And I my brain couldn't register. Uh uh I'm doing 1v1s or thinking only 1v1, and he was he had two.
SPEAKER_02That is the one I was like, what the?
SPEAKER_00I hate you saying that's 1v1. I hate that so much. That that like that jarred my memory, uh, that jarred my brain of I don't get it.
SPEAKER_01See, and I didn't even know that that happened in that opening scene. That's so funny. I'd never registered that. And the thing, the only thing that spooked me in that first blade movie was the really fucking fat like librarian. I was like what is that? Yeah. I was just like, ooh, spawn might have been another one too. Because it made me think of uh yeah, but I was like, I don't like that. That's something unknowable was always creepy to me. That's fascinating. I remember the only thing I remember about Broken Arrow was the nuke going off underground, which is like, oh shit, and the flashlight. That's a flashlight. That's flash that burned in all of all. That's one of ours where I'm just like, oh yeah, don't do that. Ew. Yeah, that crunch.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I watch movies and I'll put my shirt over my neck and I'm like, ew. Yep. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Uh but yeah, it was always the unknowable to me that freaked me out.
SPEAKER_00I get that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, the uncomprehendable. Or like, wait, are aliens actually real? Are they actually like this?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and you're not allowed to ask. Yeah, exactly. We gotta square this up. I know it's made up, but like I saw that weird Charlie Sheen movie and those knees bent backwards when that kid walked away, and I'm like, dude, where'd that come from? Someone thought of that. Does that mean they saw it and they recreated it for the movie? I know movies are fake, let's just square this away. I'm not that dumb, but where'd they think of that?
SPEAKER_01I literally saw that movie on television. You know, we had some neighbors who were like friends of my parents, and I was friends with their kids, the Urbans, and they live like two blocks away from us. And Keith and Carl. Keith and and Brian, actually. Actually, yeah. Or no, Kevin, Kevin and Brian, sorry. Kevin and Brian. Oh, and I was in between the two. Brian was older than me, Kevin was younger than me. I was right in the middle. And that's good. I just put together the actors. Because it was close enough where it was actually actively thinking. But Arrival was on because we would always play like super NES games, SimCity and Mario Kart, and all this kind of shit. And I remember him putting on Arrival when our parents were out together on a you know, getting dinner or something like that. And it was super fucking stormy. And man, I was scared shitless of that. And I remember the fucking uh they had a bush outside their front door and it was fucking going crazy. And this was after seeing those fucking knee bend back aliens at arrival, and I remember losing my mind. I was inconsolably screaming. Like, and they had and they were like, what the fuck is happening to Nick? He's having a mental breakdown, and like the parents had to come in once they got back and everything. And I was like, because my act of imagination fucked me when I was a kid. It was horrible when it came to that kind of stuff. I was I would literally, I could like hallucinate. I would it was vivid, it was extremely vivid. Yeah, and yeah, that those arrival aliens fucked me up.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Yeah. It's always random things that like will stick out. Yeah, yeah. Boners. Yeah. Yeah, exactly. All right. So turned on by this alien person. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Like weird freaks. Yeah, species. Species was a problem. Yeah. There's a lot of movies like that. Yeah, yeah. I always uh I know there's something we can't, we don't have time to get into it, but I think the first movie tits I saw was under siege. She jumps out of the cake.
SPEAKER_01For a lot of people, yeah. That's a lot for a lot of people.
SPEAKER_00Because it was uh every dad wanted to watch the Steven Segal movie. She hops out of the cake. But here's the problem that movie is also Gary Busey and Drag. I don't know if Wires got crosshair or not, but there is a weird thing where the movie that introduced me to tits was also the movie that introduced me to men dressing like women. And it's it's a weird, I mean, it's a weird movie to to open me into things. It all makes sense. I don't think it does.
SPEAKER_01If your life was a movie, like who is William in a movie? That's the first 10 pages of the script.
SPEAKER_00Me watching Under Siege. I think so. And my dad just going, oh, when the she hops out. Nah, they're not gonna show anything. Oh, uh, all right, okay.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I don't know. I'd have to really jog my memory of first movie boobs. That's a good question. In the theater, obviously Titanic, but because I was 97.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I was sweating bullets because I knew it was coming because everyone at work at school talked about it. I was just like, fuck. And here's my I didn't want to see the movie because I knew it had boobs in it. And my parents are like, You want to go? I was like, I don't. I don't think we should see it. That's all true, I think it's a bad idea. That's all true. The shame and embarrassment. I was actively going, we shouldn't watch this. Yeah, I don't think so. And they're like, why not? What I was like, I just have a hunch we shouldn't. And so when we were watching it the whole movie, I'm like, at any moment there's gonna be tits, and I'm gonna hate this because I'm sitting next to my mom and dad.
SPEAKER_01That's so funny.
SPEAKER_00And then when it happened, I think I'm trying to like play it off like I'm not even paying attention. I'm like, oh, that's crazy. Yeah, is that hilarious? How many speakers are in? Is that an exit sign? Yeah, well, what kind of car is that? What model car are they in? Yeah, yeah, because I was so uncomfortable. That's so funny. Hated it. Yeah, but then you get the movie on VHS. Pause. You're in trouble. Yeah, you're in trouble. Burning holes on that TV. That screen burning, whew, there's boobs in Braveheart. That was another double uh VHS.
SPEAKER_01Uh yeah.
SPEAKER_00Prima Nocta, boobs and Titanic. There's a button Young Guns 2. William was looking for it. Oh, yeah, of course. Secretly looking for it. Yeah, of course. But god damn it, if I had to go to a movie theater and there are boobs in it, I was freaking out.
SPEAKER_01So you were a Gen Z before Gen Z. I was freaking out. Or is a Gen Alpha that doesn't like boobs.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I was anti-horny. Yeah. I've always been anti-horny. That's true. That's true. Yeah. Get di again, a thing we don't have time to get into. I'm seeing boobs. I get too anxious, embarrassed, and then I get bubble guts. I see tits and I get diarrhea as a kid. Watch a movie, hot girl with tits comes on. I'm like, I'm gonna shit my pants. I don't know what that means. I don't know what that did to adult William, but that was a thing little William went through very much. Talk about reparenting child self. I gotta figure that shit out. Yeah, that's a nice pair and you're like, I'm gonna shit my pants right now.
SPEAKER_01It should just liquid turd immediately.
SPEAKER_02Instead of sending blood uh to your bone tongue, it's yeah, it's just twisting up them guts.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, exactly. Oh man, that's that's devastating. Yeah, that was that was uh that was a rough thing to figure out.
SPEAKER_02Keyword was yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I'm good now. I'm I'm normal now. Yeah, my body reacts normal to uh boobs. Yeah.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02Oh no, totally normal. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Or it's just constantly being like, I gotta go to the bathroom. Well, hold that thought. Yeah. Oh man, that's amazing. We're learning all kinds of things today. Yeah, whatever. Nick, we finished season one. Yes. Season one's done. Are you gonna say thank the fucking gods?
SPEAKER_01Um I am thankful that we're gonna be moving on to a shorter season two. Yeah. But these three episodes were the best three of the season, I think. Very good episodes.
SPEAKER_00I had a lot of fun. Here's a thought I had while watching these three episodes. It would bug me if I had to watch them one at a time. Oh like week to uh like Saturday, but I thought in the second episode, while they were running through the town to go to her when she transformed, yes, my brain was like, I would love this as a Saturday morning cartoon as a kid. Yeah, yeah, for sure. Like if I could have watched this as a kid, this was so exciting and cool, and this would have been cool. Yeah. I would have liked this. This is fun. I'm having fun.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that episode specifically.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. And the because the action's great. You can tell they, you know, saved a lot of the budget for this kind of big budget action shit. Yeah, big action. I was finally like, oh, okay, I I'm not minding some of the filmmaking choices here, some of the still frames. They're they're you can see that they spent the money here. Yeah. And yeah, just well paced, where the previous dozen of episodes, uh, dozens of episodes have just felt so fucking slow. But this is like, no, I I hate the idea of having longer than three episode mini arcs. Like six episode mini arcs, that's too much. It's too slow. I agree. Not enough is gonna happen. I agree. So I think this one kind of hit a good little bit.
SPEAKER_00I lose sight of what we're doing and why it's connected by part four to six, and I'm like, wait, what? Yeah, why isn't this one, two, three, one, two, three? Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_01So, yeah, I I had a good time with it. It's fun, we learn who the female Titan was, we don't learn her backstory. Seems like it's just rich parents turning their children into monsters. I'm sure that's gonna come around at some point. Yeah, it's her dad.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he's and he's like and Aaron's dad. Yeah, so it's two separate dads doing it to kids. But do they know each other? Do they work together?
SPEAKER_01We don't know. Yeah, is this like a cult thing? Exactly. Which, and yes, these episodes gave me my favorite moment of the series so far. The church getting smushed. Yes. Because that the episode before it ends with her smashing into that big round building where I'm like, oh shit. And they've been talking about The Breaking the Fancy Tale. Is the place deserted? Blah blah blah blah blah. And then the next episode starts where they're in there and they're in a circle, and I'm like, oh man, you guys, I love this. I love that you guys are doing this, and then immediately they get crashed, and all these fucking people, just all these cultists just get obliterated.
SPEAKER_00So I was just like to smellings.
SPEAKER_01You're making a fucking visual joke here, and you're putting faith into the audience that they have to put these one in one together. That's fucking hilarious.
SPEAKER_00The other cool thing these episodes did is you put me into a plot that I didn't know. Yes, I didn't know there was a a sneak attack.
SPEAKER_01The characters for once knew more than we did. The main characters that helped. Yeah, because we had we know Captain Irwin and all that kind of shit. He's always gonna know more than he's leading on. But yes, the three main protagonists were in on a plan that we, the audience, weren't. That's cool. Yeah, that was fun. And we don't get belabored flashbacks, we just get a couple scenes of like, oh yeah, this is them talking about it. And and open with her.
SPEAKER_00Yes. That's also fun. Exactly.
SPEAKER_01These are good storytelling ideas, and it's can be twofold things of we know her, but we know that she went went to be an MP and we knew she wasn't a scout. Hira was immediately like, Oh, she's the female Titan. I'm like, Oh, I don't know, she could be, she could couldn't be, which is why it's a smart choice. Because I'm like, maybe we're just checking in with her because they are coming to the Capitol. This is the town she's in, now she's the new main character. Exactly. Could have been that. Yeah, but then they tied in and they had a secret hidden plan. Yeah, fucking good stuff. Very smart choices here, not just fucking characters bumping up and down on a fucking horse talking about their internal monologue. I cannot get out how much I fucking hated that for those the previous arc. Yeah, so yeah, I was just like very smart choices, very well paced, and yeah, doing actual clever shit and having it be emotionally motivated too. You know, like with those flashbacks, Aaron feeling like he can't go through with it, like he's he's he's he doesn't believe him necessarily that she's it because he's like, wait, what the fuck? And it takes those moments of we he we relive her kicking his head off, right where he's fighting in Titan form and he visualizes her, which I'm like, that's a great callback. I really like that from the f the the beginning of the planting a seed that we didn't know was gonna pay off. And then still at the end, once he defeats her and he's gonna chomp her, he sees that she's fucking sobbing, having thinking about her dad or whatever the fuck and he spares her, and she gets in this little cocoon, which Erwin's voice over at the end really says it's gonna something's gonna blow up, something bad's gonna happen with that later on. But yeah, I'm like all of this is emotionally motivated, and I like that. And I like when Aaron goes uh like feral, berserk, I'm on fire kind of stuff. So yeah, there's a lot to like here.
SPEAKER_00I think a lot of good choices. The other thing that I like is uh yeah, we're we're fighting in the rich people place, yeah. So people are mad about that. Yep, there are civilians, there are casualties, it's not an empty street.
SPEAKER_01Yep.
SPEAKER_00I like using the class that I know is built into this show in the world, so I like that. And then of course, I I love that there's a weird cult that worships the walls like their goddesses, yes, and they have the three necklaces with the three shields.
SPEAKER_01I like that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, because they're named their lady names, the three uh walls, yeah, and so they've personified them as deities of women, and I forget the term he used, but it was uh it's so good. The guy was talking about like, don't blaspheme about the walls and the goddesses. It's our job to just like essentially just you're supposed to love and respect them and give your life to the walls. And I was like, that's such a religious thing. Yeah, yeah. Of they didn't say no one said that, you said that. Yeah, and of course, yeah, my brain loves all of that, and it's very funny to watch them get smushed in a whole building. Love it, very funny. Uh, the other thing I really liked was the beginning, and they're lined up and they're learning about their uh mission to protect the caravan. Yes, and the guy's like, Oh, well, you got all these questions, you take the lead and you'll do it, and you'll show me a good job. We're actually really busy in here, and they're up and doing they're just playing cards, hanging out, drinking wine. It's like I love the classism, I love the elitism, showing the corruption at all levels.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I love all of this. They're the people who really care about their job, but generally, society, those in power, couldn't give less of a fuck.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, just be thankful you're protected. They don't care what we're doing. Yeah, we're selling stuff, we're illegal, we're this and that. So, yeah, I like all the corruption.
SPEAKER_01Is uh negative in this world.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I love the corruption, I love the religious cult brain on the walls, the worshipping of it. I hope that becomes way more throughout the show. Yeah, yeah. I don't like, and I forgot his name, the blonde friend. Uh Erwin Er Erwin. Erwin? No, that's the pacifist one. Mikasa Erin and Erwin. I forgot his name. I don't like Erwin.
SPEAKER_01Erwin. Erwin? Eowyn. Eowin from Lord of the Rings.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, you know. He has some pretty shitty, stupid, bad lines. Haircuts. Yeah. The bad haircut. But yeah, he he was bugging me this episode because he had some lame lines to, I think her name's Annie.
SPEAKER_01Still, people are too too earnest, too melodramatic, too literal.
SPEAKER_00I mean, it's just how it goes. It is. It's anime, so we're here with that. Yeah. But Mika says a badass. Oh, yeah. She's really walking in on this episode. Friggin' cool. Yeah. She fights cool, she's unorthodox. You can't guess her movements like everybody else. Yeah. Watching the big Titan spin people around and throw them from their hooks is still very fun to me. Yeah. I like it a lot.
SPEAKER_01I have a question, and I wonder if your internet brain, your internet loving brain, would have an opinion on this idea. So with Aaron and Mikasa, especially at the end where he's bandaged up in bed, basically. It's like the very end of these episodes, and she's just still doting over him. Do you think the anime trope of the beautiful badass girl who is in love with the main protagonist, who is so compelled and driven that he couldn't give less of a fuck about her, has negatively impacted nerd culture and the way that men see women. Because watching it play out in this show, I'm just like, Jesus Christ. Like it's so fucking annoying to me. Where I'm just like, she clear, I mean, I get it, they grew up together, they murdered together. Uh, so maybe he does see her as a more of a sister figure, right? I mean, that could definitely be the case, right? Where there's nothing wrong with that if that's the case. But this idea of like the ultimate badass woman and the completely disinterested, singularly focused male protagonist who doesn't want anything to do with it. I'm just like, are you this is like every male fantasy bullshit? You want this beautiful, capable woman f you know, pining over you, and you're just like, no, uh, I'm married to the blade or whatever. You know what I mean? Like, I get that. Do you think that that has you know fed into uh neckbeard and cellism? Okay.
SPEAKER_00I think there's another thing that fed into it because the way that I see this is um it's a very similar thing to Evangelion. Even the weird idea.
SPEAKER_01Even Gillian?
SPEAKER_00Even Evangelion has the boy character bandaged up in a hospital bed a few times. Like there is this thing of this wimpy, not fully capable boy, and then the ultra capable girl.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00There's a respect and an honor there. They don't objectify her in they do sexually. They don't objectify her as if she's worthless.
SPEAKER_03Sure.
SPEAKER_00That's the thing that I think has ruined gender dynamics with incel internet culture is the idea of if I'm an if a person is an incel, I'm not, I've had sex before. Um, if a person is an incel, there's a frustration that women can exist and be happy and um unobjectifiable. Like they hate the idea of they can make money off of OnlyFans, that they can be picky, six foot tall or nothing. Like they hate women have agency. Okay. They hate women are good at things, they hate women getting high-paying jobs. Like they want a woman to be beneath them and you make babies and you you you the trad Christian. It's a power dynamic. Yeah, I I need to own you as an object because if I don't, I can't have you in my life. Oh, okay. This is a different thing where the woman's the badass, and it's hot that she's badass. Okay. That's also an evangelion. Is the girls are great at this. They sink faster, this and that, but they're also comfortable in their sexuality, where like she just walks around naked, or she wants to kiss you, or she's hot. Like she's your mom, a clone of these. Exactly. God damn it. The fuck what is an Ava again? It's organic. What is that? Don't know. No one, I don't know. No one knows. No one knows what that shit is. Do you know about the moon bases, the black and the white, and what that is? No one. Do you remember that? Do you even remember that was a part of the lore?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, who was that guy? The other dude, the other fucking the fifth child? I don't know. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00But that I think is a completely different thing that we're not fighting with right now culturally. Gotcha. Like right now, we're just in a really gross space where they're like, I don't like women. I want to mistreat them. Yes. And I want them in the house, not talking, not voting.
SPEAKER_01It's just more general sexism taken to the extreme.
SPEAKER_00And I think what this is is um it's just objectification where it's hot and sexy when a girl's a badass. And if she could do it in underwear, that'd probably be better. If Mikasa could be killing titans and cutting heads off in her underwear, we'd probably like that more. But she's still fully capable with agency. Okay. And there's a weird But she's still so dedicated to her. But that's what I'm saying. There's a weird fetish of this awesome woman loving a loser. Oh, yeah, yeah. And I think that's more of a Japanese thing of the the meek. Okay. Yeah. So yeah, I I don't think that broke our brains. Okay, I think it's it does lead into the we just objectify women. That's the video game thing. Yeah. Is we hate all these games. It's still happening with Wolverine where Gene Gray's not hot enough. Oh, okay. Where video game characters aren't sexy and people hate. That's why Stellar Blade made as much money as it did, and people were freaking out, is because it's like kind of a fun game, and she has the biggest, fattest ass and the hugest tits with crazy jiggle effects. Okay. And guys are like, yeah, this is the game everyone should make. I see. Stop making women look not anime attractive. Sure, sure. So I think that's it's still in that world, but it's it's not the thing I think we're we're being ruined by.
SPEAKER_01I appreciate that. Yeah. I wanted to to see what you thought about it.
SPEAKER_00But I it is funny. Because it was just like, uh come on, guys. Yeah. Like a super awesome bowl cut girl. Yeah. Fully capable, doting over a broken sad boy. Yeah. Exactly. And him going feral did remind me of your favorite uh Ava. Going Berserk. Yeah, going berserk, because the eyes are green with this feral and it reminded me of the animal thing.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00So there's some parallels. That was in my head.
SPEAKER_01Absolutely.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that was in my head for sure.
SPEAKER_01Okay. I appreciate that. Yeah. All right. Do we have any random stuff? I got some.
SPEAKER_00But yeah, but I mean these episodes. These are good episodes. This is a good end of the season.
SPEAKER_01Agreed.
SPEAKER_00I don't know where we're going. I'm interested.
SPEAKER_01Well, I think they set the expectation of okay, now it's shifting to we are trying to find the titans within our ranks. You know, when Irv, when Irv, the captain, is being now we're gonna attack on Titans here.
SPEAKER_00Yes. It's not about the ones outside in the walls. We're not attacking Titans. Yeah. Now we're the name of the show. Yes.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Now so season two, they're gonna be trying to find other human titans, I'm assuming.
SPEAKER_00So does that mean all Titans are humans turning in and out, or just the colossal armored and lady titan? Well, it's are the dumb, goofy, spider crawly uh tongues that don't fit in their mouth titans. Well, they still cut balls.
SPEAKER_01They still cut their back of their neck, so there's maybe somebody controlling them. Yeah. I don't know what that means.
SPEAKER_00And why are the dads doing this to kids? Why is he arming kids? Yep. I like the ring summoning Titan form. Clever. When she put the ring on, I was like, Oh, what's that? Yeah. And then That being because she can't bite herself.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I'm just another piece of scum being swept into the current.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01Very uh very emo of him. Absolutely. Yeah, labeling people dehumanizes them.
SPEAKER_00I was like, Nick, you should you should think about that. That's interesting. Should think about that in the words you call me when we're not recording. The second episode we watched, 24, opens with that dude I hate that drinks from his mug. Stupid. Do you see it? Do you notice? No. He's talking to Aaron in the the the underground Levi base. When he's drinking, he holds his mug on the top and he drinks it between his fingers and it pisses me off. And I hated all the blood when Aaron was trying to bite himself. Yeah. That was gross. Yeah, that's gross. He kept doing it. And he's literally like stabbed through the fucking chest. And he leaned into it to wake up. That was pretty cool, though.
SPEAKER_01Pretty metal, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Cut her fingers off.
SPEAKER_01I like that. That was awesome. I like the brass balls, but try not to swing them so hard, they get you killed. It's a good line. I wrote it down too. Yeah. But yes, her getting her fingers cut off while she's climbing. Yeah. Yeah. That was fun. Yeah. And there's no way they're talking about the amount of times they're bringing up uh what we fight we become, and we have to match their heartlessness. Like, this is not gonna lead down a good road. No, no, absolutely not. You have to lose your humanity to win and all these kind of shit. It's just like, no, okay, this is gonna this is a main theme of the show, yeah, and it's gonna fucking backfire at some point.
SPEAKER_00Nuclear deterrent. Yeah. Because that always works so well. Exactly. Yeah. That first Avenger movie's got some pretty good lines. Wonder who wrote that. So good. Stand your ground even if the whole world stands against you. Yeah. Pretty metal. Fighting's your whole world, but what exactly are you fighting for? I like the image when he he catches her foot when they're fighting as Titans, and he throws her and then he runs through a building to beat her up. Yeah. That's fucking cool. I love watching things run through things. Yeah, it's again. Avenger, shout out the Hulk running through a building.
SPEAKER_01Hell yeah. Yeah, and the things that her father says to uh her, they will despise you, they won't understand, but I will. Your father will.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Just promise me you'll return. The fuck does that mean? What are they doing?
SPEAKER_00What are these parents doing making their kids monsters? Yeah, I don't get it. And then not telling them there's a reason we're making you monsters. I also still don't know what the female Titan Annie's whole plan is. No idea.
SPEAKER_01She just hates the rich. That's the thing. Is it like, is it are the Titans the the Robin Hoods or something? You know what I mean? Like, yeah, what are they?
SPEAKER_00Is this like, no, you guys are doing it wrong? There's a the another way to live sort of thing. So we're gonna crush it down.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, exactly. Is there s is there life outside the wall? Yeah.
SPEAKER_00We're just trying to get to the center, kill the leaders.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Maybe the rest of the world is fine or something like that. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_00What's up?
SPEAKER_01Many, many options.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Maybe one of these days we'll get to that cellar that showed the key again. Exactly. Yeah. So that's a loose thread we we can follow. Here's another one I thought about again uh in these episodes is remember when he transformed into the skeleton to protect them from the cannon fire? Yes. And then when he came back, there were flowers. Yes. That's something. Yeah. I don't know what that is. Thinking about that. Yeah, I wonder if that'll come back. That's a good question.
SPEAKER_01Or does it just look cool?
SPEAKER_00Yeah. But they they also uh someone talked about it. It's like, oh, those weren't here before. Uh they they called it out. Yeah. Which mean which is okay, it's not just a visual thing. Okay, yeah, yeah. That's a plot point we're gonna get to. Okay. And then uh yeah, you had to remind me first time ever, we had um uh shout out Avengers, we had a post-credit scene.
SPEAKER_01Yes, uh, which I didn't know. I don't watch the end credits, and I mentioned it to Henry, my coworker today when I played racquetball with him this morning, and he was like, Oh, yeah, how'd what'd you think of the cliffhanger? I'm like, There's no cliffhanger because they just have a voiceover and they were essentially doing the next time, yeah. So I'm like, I don't know, and then he's like, Ah, maybe I'm thinking of season two, but I'll look it up and I'll text you. So he texts me. He's like, Oh, there is a short one. Did you watch it? Yes, okay. So I did look it up. It shows that there's some titans on the other side, or a titan that looks like the giant titan.
SPEAKER_00I was gonna say it's it's the it looks like the human one, the it's the female titan, the muscle, the fleshy one, not the goofball one. Exactly. Yeah, yeah. But also the idea that it was it's just there. Yeah, exactly. What's on the other side of that wall?
SPEAKER_01Watching is it the other? I don't know where it is. Yeah, I don't know where I don't know where that wall leads to.
SPEAKER_00And then also we saw more of which we've talked about, but it kind of sort of very confirms, yeah. When she transforms, it is through lightning, yeah, striking her, and it kills all the people around. Like it's an AoE move. So cool, which is uh a cool visual.
SPEAKER_01And then same happened with Aaron when he turned eventually.
SPEAKER_00And yeah, when he attacked the colossal, yes, that happened and it disappeared.
SPEAKER_01Yes. Yeah. So I mean, we're gonna know who the colossal is, I think.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, these are people, yeah, these are characters. But what about the goofball ones? I don't know. I'm interested. I don't know. But babies. Yeah, exactly. Backbirths. Yeah, maybe.
SPEAKER_01But yeah, very glad that this went out on a strong Yeah, uh ended on a high note. Yeah, because I was not having a good time, and I would not recommend this season of television to anyone. Honestly, I mean didn't like it. I did not enjoy it or I should say this. I I do like the story, it's interesting. I just do not like how it is executed. So I didn't enjoy watching this season of television.
SPEAKER_00And I think if we weren't watching it to dissect as a podcast episode, and if we could binge it, yeah, I wouldn't have minded it almost at all. I would have been like, yeah, that's cool. On to next.
SPEAKER_01Like put it on while you're doing something.
SPEAKER_00No, watching it with intent, just not dissecting it. I see. Okay. Yeah. It's not it's not background noise, Nicholas. It's a show I'm watching. Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_01You say so. But if I was binging it, there's like 10 minutes of plot in the bad episodes just blend into the good ones.
SPEAKER_00Like I'm just watching Archer Thing. Sure, sure. You know, yeah, it's the same, like I wouldn't have been able. And honestly, that's why I stopped. I can't watch your middle name. Oh, yeah. Oh, no, of course not. I get to a bad, stupid episode where I'm like, what am I doing? I'd rather rewatch Manchester by the Sea. The acting's so good. Jesus. Yeah, the themes have nothing to do with it. I'm kidding. Yeah. But yeah, if I binge it, I'm like, that episode sucked. But who comes out of the next one? Sean Aston's coming up soon. Yeah, for sure. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01But hey, I'm excited to see what season two brings. Shorter. Shorter. Is it gonna be better animated? Is it the same animation studio? Do they have more money because it's more popular? I am interested in all these things, and I'm actually looking forward to seeing where it starts going. And as far as we know, we'll just stick to the three episodes. Yep. Um it's doing us good so far. It's it's good so far. And uh yeah, we will be back next week with season two of Attack on Titan, the first three episodes. I love you. I love you too.
